I wish I was there
On Monday morning Trelawnyd VA school went to Talacre beach and met the artist they were going to work with. We looked for birds in the hide with Lorna and Joe they had very very good binoculars and we got to try them out. The man from the RSPB was very kind and he had loads of binoculars and he had this one like a looking for stars one and it was huge!
There were curlews, godwits, shelduck, pintail and loads more and the man said there was a point of earth like a little point and some birds travel so far like Finland Norway Africa and like that would take ages about 1657mls and about 100 days for us and that is nearly a year!
There were little windows to see out of and we had to be super quiet like 0% sound or they would fly away and then there would be 0% birds for us to see. It was really fun!
When we walked back we stopped at a bench and looked for birds to sketch and there were some but not that much.
The next morning we worked with the artist and we did card birds and then we did collage and with the bird we did we cut some of the peices off and we glued them back on and we left gaps between them and it was kind of like a jigsaw puzzle to me and that was the best bit about yesterday.
Today Ruth is working with 12 people to do painting with them and it looks good fun.I wish I was there right now but I’m in class and Ruth is very kind and always nice to all of us she helps us if were stuck our need any type of help .

A lovely shell
First we met with Ruth Thomas at Talacre and we went on a 15 or 20 min walk to the bird hide and on the way Eve ,Katie and I saw a white Heron on the marsh and we found a lovely shell .Then we arrived at the bird hide with Ruth and we met Dan from the RSPB [Royal Society for the Protection of Birds] .He told us all about the Curlew ,Pin tail duck , Shell duck and the Black Tail God Wit, so we knew what they look like and he also told us about the marsh .Some of us saw the Black Tail God Wit but most of us didn’t, I think all of us found the Pin tail duck and the Curlew, but I’m not sure if everyone saw the shell duck [I didn’t see the shell duck].
After about half an hour later everyone had sandwiches and a little snack after we all had our lunch Miss Fisher gave us all a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and squishys. After we all finished our hot chocolate we picked our binoculars up and we kept looking for the four birds, about half an hour later we headed off and on the way we took one more look at the marsh and it was nearly gone!!!
On the way we saw another white heron flying up in to the sky and its wings were MASSIVE!!!!!, Tom was talking to me about his three pugs ,a few minutes later we saw four pugs walk past us and there was two white pugs and two black pugs and a pug jumped up at Freya and after the pugs left our site we saw a MASSIVE flock of birds fly past us it was amazing I was amazed by how many birds there was!!!
Later we walked to where we were going to meet the bus so we waited ….and waited….and waited…… until the bus arrived and I hopped on the bus with Seren and and arrived back at school. We all had a drink and snack and a little break and we all went home or to a club.I loved going to see the birds in the bird hide with Ruth and Dan from the RSPB .

AFinding a heron
First we got to Talacre then we were looking for birds till Ruth Thomas came. Then when Ruth Thomas arrived Ruth said “I am Ruth Thomas and I’ll be working with you for the rest of the week and we will be working to the bird hide it might take 15-20 minutes maybe.”
So we started walking- it took a while to get there, I was freezing on my hands because it was cold there. When we got to the bird hide we met Dan from the RSPB the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. He talked about the birds that we are going to see. Then we got our binoculars so we could see some birds.
Seth and Ben B and I saw a shell duck and the Curlew is usually camouflaged but I saw one flying then it landed. I saw its wings come down it was pretty cool.I said to Seth I found a Curlew but when I turned around it was gone it was so camouflaged.
I found a pin tail we had to find these birds Pin tail,Curlew,Black tailed god wit and a shell duck. Miss Fisher gave us our art books so we could draw a bird that we could see so I drew a shell duck swimming in the sea.
I found a Heron it was really cool bird. Then we walked to the Talacre beach, my shoes got sandy though. We looked in our binoculars and I thought I saw a seal but it was a rock that looked like a seal but I did see a thing sticking out of the water. It might be a boat or a thing that measures the depth of the water we never knew but people said it was the thing that measures the water.
I loved going to the bird hide with Ruth and Dan you would have loved it if you went.

What birds did we find?
On Monday the year 5 and 6s of Trelawnyd went to Talacre to a bird hide to see what birds we can find.
The main birds were black tail god wit ,pin-tails, curlew and shell duck .I found one black tail ,about three shell ducks , a few
pin tails and several curlews. There was some one called Dan from the RSPB and he told us where the birds go and when their breeding sessions are.At 12.o clock we all had dinner so after we ate it. Miss Fisher gave us a hot chocolate with some marshmallows-yummy by the way thank you Miss Fisher. After all of that yummy-ness we had our sketch books out so we all sketched what we could see over head. That was fun .
On the 1st of Feb me,Finlay, Flynn, Jake, Leon and Alex were working with an artist called Ruth Thomas making bird prints .The first stage was to find a photo of a bird: pin tail.

We got a roller and rubbed paint on the roller and rolled it on our animal drawing. Then we put our drawing on this metal press and then put a piece of cardboard and then you turn the wheel and then it will print the stencil.

Breath taking results
February 1st 2017
working with Ruth Thomas
On Wednesday me and a group of people in year 5 & 6 where doing PRINT MAKING. It was so exciting; we were printing our Art work that we sketched on Monday 30th at Talacre Beach. We started our line drawings on Tuesday- mine was a curlew and we printed them today.
So what we did was- in steps: we first covered our line drawings in a variety of colours and then we fed them through with the press so in detail the press is a mechanical machine with a big metal roller on so the drawing that you covered with coloured water oil.
You put a piece of tissue paper with three layers of blankets over it and roll it through the roller and take your results out and should have a beautiful result- well that’s what I did anyway! So I did about nine of them. It was fun, but still needed to concentrate.
After play time we got our line drawings and painted it with what ever colors were on the table which were mustard, green, blue, pink and then did the opposite to what we did before
we put the printing paper first onto the press and ON TOP you put your line drawing on and roll it through the press.
Out of 10 I would give it 11, it might seem like an easy simple Art job but it was something really breath taking on our results. I’m really impressed with my self because its not something you do quite often.
