On Wednesday my group were in the afternoon and we met two pupils; Chloe and Lewis, they where both very nice and helped us all. First we got our little stencils and made prints with them and they ended up MEGA COOL!!:) after that we did the main prints and they where really cool. Mine were two shell-ducks flying away. Today is my day off and tomorrow we are all going to have an hour with her to finish off

Perfect Project Prints
On monday 3oth we went to Talacre beach to the bird hide with artist Ruth Thomas to look at birds- like the black-tailed godwit and shellduck- for an art project. On the way back we saw two PUGS!!!!.
Wednesday 1st after the first group had gone for their turn, we did maths then when we went for art. We put on t-shirts so our clothes didn’t get covered in paint. Then we met Ruth’s helpers: Chloe and Lewis.
First Ruth showed us what to do, then lewis helped me and Harvey start off. We chose a colour- we chose red which Lewis liked the idea of. Also we put a tiny bit of white in. We liked how the red turned into a lighter red but not too light. Then we mixed it. We finished mixing and spread it on another piece of plastic. Then we got a roller and rolled the paint out. Lewis got a piece of card to roll the paint all over, then we got our stencils and put them on it. We went to the print machine which, when you turn the wheel a few times, pushes the card down on the paper to print the stencils on the paper to make something really cool. 🙂

A shadow of the bird
On Monday the 30 th January yr 5 and 6 went to Talacre beach to do some bird spotting and we saw lots of birds like curlews, shelducks, pintails and the black tailed godwit. The day after we did some art work with a very lovely lady called Ruth. The first activity was to make printing plates,we had to draw a picture of a bird that we saw at Talacre-I did a pintail. We had to leave gaps and cut the head and wings off,we also had to stick the body parts on a piece of card. The second art work we had to do was to draw pictures of birds on paper and we had to do a shadow of the bird with no details or anything.
The second day 2 groups went to do some more art work with Ruth.I was in the second group with Seren,Flynn,Harvey,Will and Grace. First we used the drawings of birds on the paper to make overlapping pictures. We had to choose 2 different colours to create a very nice bright colour that would be good to mix up with another colour.

A wonderful piece of art
Yesterday me and my group of six ( Will, Seren, Harvey, Lorcan, Eve) went to work with Ruth the artist. Our first activity was to make a printing plate. We made them by mixing two colours together with paint then rolling them out onto a plastic square sheet. Then we rolled the paint into a square on the plastic sheet with Ruth’s rollers. We then rolled it onto a piece of card so the card is completely covered, then we brought it to Ruths printing press. We put it in the smaller rectangle and then we put our drawings of birds down some paper and card, and then she put 1 or 2 thick materials on the top. We got to spin the wheel to press everything down(that was great).
When that went through the whole thing, we lifted all the paper off and other fabrics and there it was….. a wonderful piece of art.
I LOVED IT !!!!

A really good Shelduck
On the 30th of January an artist came to our school called Ruth Thomas to do some printing work about birds called the Curlew,Black tailed God wit Shelduck and the Pin tail. The first thing we did was look at pictures of birds then we had to pick the bird we wanted to draw. Then we were given a piece of card and we had to draw the bird. We picked very carefully on the piece of card. Then we cut out our bird but I had to stay in at lunch time with Flynn and Seren because Flynn was struggling to draw, I lost the duck’s body and Seren…. I don’t know. But we all finished by 1 anyway.
At 1 everybody was up to date with the work then we made some stencils. I did a Curlew flying in the air.
On the 1st of February in the afternoon me and Lorcan,Eve,Grace and my brother Will, we worked in partners and I worked with Lorcan and we had to pick 3 or 4 colours and I picked red green and black. Then we had our birds and stencils and Ruth taught us how to print and I thought I made a really good Shellduck.

Tidal rivers
On 30th January yr5/6 went to Talacre to see:
Black tailed godwits, curlews, shell ducks and pintails at the RSPB bird hide .When the cold wind came it was very cold as well as cold it was damp.
When we arrived at Talacre to go the beach it was a 20 minute walk from the beach to the bird hide. We were in the hide for 1 hour. After the hour I went to the marshland, beach and tidal rivers, and drew pictures of our visit to Talacre.
With the artist we made stencils and are going to print with ink but are printing birds that we saw at Talacre .

No glass in the windows
On Monday we went to Talacre to look at birds we hads researched. We went with Ruth the artist,Lana and Jo and also Dan from the rspb. He told us about all the birds and how to use binoculars. The birds we had researched were curlew, black tailed godwit, pintail and a shell duck. I saw all of the birds but mostly a shell duck.
It was really cold (we were in a hide with no glass on the windows or no doors)but we all eventually warmed up. When we had lunch Miss Fisher bought hot chocolate ,marshmallows and sweets for us all!!! Wow.
The next day Ruth came in to do some printing of birds with us.She showed us some of her printings and they were amazing. Then we got started we had to pick a picture of one of the birds we researched. I did a shell duck I had to draw it I really like my picture- I was the first one to finish. Then I had to turn it into a jigsaw so my details would show up when I printed it. I stuck it down onto a piece of card. Then I chose a new photo and drew it on sketching paper. Then cut it out I did four of them then we had to finish so I put it into a plastic bag.
Today Ruth is working with 2 groups of six, tommorow she is working with me and my group.
