We tried to do it with three crumbs and it worked!
Monday 12th November 2018
Yesterday we had a visitor because it was technology day. The person was called Mr Williams.
First we had to get into team of three and my team was me, Gabi and Daisy. We work so well together. Mr Williams showed us how to do the colours and we used a lot of colours. Before you could put the colours on the computer, you had to programme it so it would do it.
Mr Williams had already given us all of the things we needed; we had to make a car .
We had a long wire to plug into the computer, a crumble and three crumbs. We had to plug the other end of the wire into the crumble, we had to plug the computer into the crumble so we could get all the info onto the crumble. You couldn’t unplug it from the computer because it would just delete the whole thing. We tried to do it with three crumbs and it worked!
Me, Daisy and Gabi were so, so, so happy!!

I think our merry-go-round was the best.
Yesterday we did technology day with a man called Mr.Williams.
We did a bit where we had to make a wheel spin and go slow, fast, then super fast.
I was in a group with Matteo and Josh.
We made a merry-go-round out of paper and with a wheel which spun.
We used sparkles and we had to make them work in different colours .
We also filmed what we did and I liked it.
The sparkles was very bright and colourful. Miss Thorpe filmed us. It was good .
We liked our thing we made. It was hard technology and hard putting it together. I think our merry-go-round was the best. I did the crafty bits. My favourite bit was making the box because it was fun.

We were successful in programming the motor
On Monday 12th of November a visitor came in to do computer science with us. He was called Mr Williams. First we got into a team of 3. I was with Summer Leigh and Matteo. Mr Williams taught us how to turn sparkles on and off and also change the colour using crumble. Crumble lets you program the equipment to do whatever you ask it to do. Then we worked on 2 sparkles and made disco lights, next 3 sparkles, then we worked with a motor. We had to attach a wheel to it and then program the motor. It could not spin more then a 100%. We were successful in programming the motor.
The next step was choosing a design or making a design to go on the top of the wheel. We chose a carousel. Me and Matteo did the programming whilst Summer L did the cutting out of the design. We also used something called a sparkle baton which has 8 sparkles in a row. We used a motor holder which stopped the motor from wobbling. Then we put the carousel on the wheel and the sparkle baton. 2 sparkles played at a time and after that we were finished.

It’s almost Christmas
Tuesday 13th November
On Monday we went in groups of 3 and Mr Williams gave us a box. It had: three batteries, two wheels, sparkles, wires and holder for three batteries. We used a computer to write commands to make sparkles flash in lots of different colours. Daisy W put wires together onto the sparkle and put the batteries on. We plugged wires into the computer and put it in a crumble to make it work.
We got the sparkles to flash in lots of different colours and there was a lot of colours to choose. We decided what colours to use together. We could press play and stop on the computer and the sparkles would stop flashing. We then used a motor and carefully put the wheel on to it. We put down commands to go forward, reverse and stop. We could also change the speed too. We finally got the wheel to spin and then started doing something else.
I drew a picture and Faith helped me colour it in. Then we used sellotape to tape it and it looked a lot like a lamp shade. It was a Christmas one because it’s November and it’s almost Christmas. We made it a stand and we put the motor with wheel on a stand to hold it up and put the picture on top. The picture spun at the speed of 40 and we used computer to colour the sparkles to flash lots of different colours.
We put paper at the front with three holes in it and taped the sparkles to the holes and they flashed. Then we pressed play on the computer and it worked! The picture spun around and around and the sparkles flashed through the hole.
At the end of the day we did a car and it was super cool. Then we put everything we used from our box back carefully for Mr Williams and went home. It was super fun!

The second time it worked.
Yesterday we were programming on computers with the sparkles.
It was the best lesson we’ve had so far! Some of us made a haunted house, some of us made a merry go round or a carousel. (They did really well! Much better than our haunted house. I must say one of the groups did a scary hunted house – with a jump scare.)
It was a bit funny that we could not figure out which cable was causing the confusion with the sparkles to turn on. It took us ages to find out which one it was! We found out it was the last one. Phew. When we found it out we told Mr. Williams and he said, “Well done, now you have a choice to make: either make the box into the buggy and you program it or carry on improving your work.” Everyone voted to build and program the buggy. It was fun, much more fun than it sounded! We tried to program it but it spun around and around. The second time it worked.

It was really fun.
Technology
Yesterday I did tech with someone called Mr Williams. He showed us this device called ‘crumble’ which made chips, called sparkles, light up. We could make any colour out of 500,000! It was really fun.
After service time we came back and did motors. We had to make them move with wheels on. It was quite hard. Then we had to make the wheels turn around with the sparkles on too. We managed to do that and then he gave us a challenge: “To make a little show with crumble.” My group used the haunted house background. We drew ghosts in the windows and we made it look like a yellow ghost was walking around the house. At the end blood appeared to make it look like the ghost had killed somebody. By Joe

When it worked it was GREAT!
Yesterday we had a technology day and a man came in called Mr Williams. First he showed us all of the pieces that we would use. We then got into groups of three; I was in a group with Jacob and Evie. We used a laptop and programmed a light called a sparkle to light up. It was tricky because there were cables attached to a programming chip called a crumble. Then we attached two more sparkles to the first sparkle and made the lights go in a sequence of different colours.
After that we made a wheel connect to a motor and made the wheel go forward and then reverse. It was really tricky because we had to program it from the laptop to the crumble which was connected to the motor, but when it worked it was GREAT! After that we made the speeds go in a sequence from slow to fast to even faster then to slow again. Then we stopped it.
Soon we had a challenge to make either a spin around ballerina, a spin around carousel, a light up haunted house or a night time house or our own creation. We chose a light up haunted house. We used a sparkle baton which had eight lights on. We lit the house’s windows to a red and then a green to a blue. It was FANTASTIC! Mr Williams said that we could make a car so we tried, but our car went in circles over and over again! After that Mr Williams had to go so we said Thank you and then he packed up his pieces together and then he wheeled his pieces out of our classroom.

Technology day
Yesterday Mr Williams came into yr 5&6 to teach us tech. First he taught us how to build and program sparkles in groups. I was in a group with Daisy H and Lillia. We made our sparkles turn different colours like turquoise, purple, yellow, green and pink. Next Mr Williams gave us a motor and a wheel. We had to put the wheel on the motor and program it so it can do whatever we want.
After lunch we had challenges to do. My group chose to make a ballerina spin. We attached the wheel to the motor. We programmed it spin one way and jiggle the other way. Miss Thorpe videoed our ballerina and put it on seesaw. We really enjoyed it , and I recommend it to others.

Technology day was amazing!
Technology day was amazing!I found it really interesting trying to programme the sparkles to light up in the pattern we wanted. I liked how we could use millions of colors! I was in a group with Lily T and Lilly G.Then we got introduced to two motors and wheels. We programmed them to reverse, go forwards and stop. We could also control how fast it went. It could go 1 to a hundred percent.
